As a design-build contractor, we provide in-house structural engineering for the entire building. This allows us to utilize our engineering expertise, construction experience, and building information modeling to ensure all structural elements are integrated into the architectural features in the building. Having these specialties under one roof allows us to provide constructible and innovative solutions to complex building systems.

Newcomb Construction's Structural Engineer, Scott Markowski, holds a Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has over 20 years of structural engineering experience. Scott's knowledge of concrete tilt-up buildings, combined with his engineering skills, create a unique approach to in-house engineering here at Newcomb, insuring all aspects of the building from foundations to roof are carefully evaluated and designed. Scott’s role includes:

  • Calculating all connections and structural loads required for all building elements, including panel design;

  • Designing concrete panels to accommodate all structural, architectural and construction elements;

  • Designing the most challenging architectural features into constructible concrete building panels.

Newcomb Construction's in-house engineering services provide direct benefits to the project design-build team and ultimately to the building owners. The benefits of in-house engineering include:

  • Increased quality control, consistency, and efficiencies in building design, due to the use of one engineer for the entire building from steel framing to concrete wall panels;

  • Direct contact with field team members, engineering oversight, and on-demand support;

  • Streamlining the build process, which allows us to control and reduce costs without compromising value.
