What is Tilt-Up?

Tilt-up is the advanced construction method for low- to mid-rise structures. Load-bearing concrete wall panels are cast horizontally on site and then tilted up into position by crane. Lower labor requirements and speed of erection lead to lower costs. Ready mixed concrete gives the project proven durability.

Tilt-up's unique insulation system provides excellent fire protection, and is resistant to extreme weather conditions. Heating and cooling costs are greatly reduced since over 99% of the insulation value is maintained. The two-component sandwich wall system consists of fiber composite connectors and pre-formed Styrofoam brand insulation allowing for a fast, error-free installation. These components are placed between two wythes of concrete to form a long-lasting, load-bearing, energy-efficient and appealing sandwich wall.

The exterior of the tilt-up wall panels are often sandblasted to a light finish that exposes a small amount of the aggregate. Concrete stains and a variety of form liners can also be used to give the wall panels exciting colors and textures.
